Grantura Steering Rack - help!
Discussion
In need of a bit of advice regarding the steering rack on a MkIII Grantura. I am in the process of rebuilding a stripped car that came with various parts which I'm sure are not correct. The rack looks like a Triumph (Spitfire or Herald) and appears to be too wide - the track rod ends can fit the steering arms but the rack won't fit on the cross-member centrally without the steering column fouling the chassis. I have read that the Grantura requires a shortened rack? Can anyone advise if there is an alternative rack that fits without a cut and shut job or alternatively is there a company that will carry out this modification?
Also the chassis has 2 possible mounting locations one forward, one rear. The carcame with short steering arms on the front uprights but I have some spares with longer ones attached (and have seen these longer ones on other cars). Does anyone know which arms are best to reduce bump steer?
Cheers
