Hi all,
I'm a potential new TVR V8S series owner.
I've been looking around for a really good one but not had too much luck as yet.
I've owned various classic cars over the years and am quite into the MG Midget and AH Sprite scene so I'm quite used to turning rusty wrecks into drivable cars.
I was just kind of hoping to get a little advice on buying a V8S; what to look out for, where to check, best places to buy or any other advice or guidance you could give me.
Unless anyone out there has a minted V8S in their garage they want to convert into cash...

Hi Bob, had my V8s now for three years great car. Like you I've had various MG'S / Jensen-Healey and the rust problems. I sure guys will be along to say 'check the chassie' check service history, buy the best you can find, I did David Gerald TVR Dealers, good service and the car as run without problems so far 'fingers crossed'. Classic insurance, i pay more for my 4*4 daily driver.

My understanding is the burgundy one in the classifieds in the Isle of Man is a good un - I'm not keen on the dark wheels but that could easily be changed.
Take your missus away for a surprise weekend, and, erm, while we're here Love...... hehe

It was previously a UK car so I can't imagine its that difficult to revert it back to a British Reg.

Hi I have recently purchased a V8S. The car is a lot of fun. Previously I had a mint TR6 which was good but definately not as full on or as much fun.

That used to belong to honourablepickle, it also belonged to silverback mike and I followed it to SCH at Ettington Chase, it won the best V8, a nice motor yes and a nice price too.

Do it you will never regret it, Ive owned some nice cars in my time (costing 5-6 times more than a |V8S) and the car that I still hold dear to my heart is the V8S. Sooo much fun it will have you grinning for hours after you get out, if I didnt need extra seats I would never have sold mine, loved the V8S.

David, glad you are still enjoying the old girl, look after her... biggrin

I'm suffering a bit of a Cerber-itch myself at the moment - as Barkychosc says, they're just so BAD!

Couldn't bear to sell the S though. Although if the right V8S came along... hmmmm... scratchchin

Given the current prices I'd be very tempted to get the V8 (in fact, I am very tempted), but don't discount the V6s either - still good fun and more numerous.

I've also heard conflicting reports that the performance difference is that great at legal speeds, can anyone comment on this?

Depends what you are looking for, drive them both and if its a second car for fun, you will buy the V8S I guarantee you.

IMHO

Hi Mike

Aye that was what I thought too... I think I'd be happier, just because I wouldn't always be listening for expensive-sounding noises...
