Other half told me about one of her parents who is hospitalised due to this, beeing all internet savvy, been googling and reading up. She is definately someone I could see myself marrying so the slight extra questionabl risk of her/future kids suffering is one I'd take. (Very strong, intelligent woman with fantastic education and has a proffessional medical job)

But just curious if anyone had experience.

Quite a few of these issues can unfortunately be genetic and passed on through generations,

Personally I would'nt worry about siring chucky I'd be sleeping with one eye open and all the sharp objects locked away

Psychizophrenia is a strange one in my experience. I think its something that can develop through extreme trauma and stress as opposed to being genetic. My aunt developed it under some pretty exceptional circumstances. She started dating a guy who it turned out was involved in some sort of cult. Somehow he brainwashed her into joining. She was made to go without sleep for 7 days as some sort of initiation, during which time she hallucinated heavily (seeing spiders crawling all over the place etc) and developed psychizophrenia. She recieved psychiatric help and as far as I know is fine now. She'd never displayed any symptoms of psychizophrenia in the 40yrs previously.

apparently questions about if the person in question had been abused, she though doesnt think was case.

Doesn't think is the case, doesn't mean its not the case. The mind splits off into multiple personalities as a way of containing the trauma in inaccessable reaches, thus preserving the original personality intact and unaware.

I think you're asking for too much reassurance really smile ...if you carry on down this route you're likely to scare the poor girl off.

Obviously if there was some sort of court case involving abuse then thats your answer. Its not a genetic disorder, its the sad result of a woman who was subjected to something so extraordinarily traumatic that her mind wasn't able to cope with it. It won't be hereditory. You have nothing to worry about. If I were you I'd forget about it.

Been talking to her on MSN a short while earlier as im abroad, always honest with her and brought up finding out more on case/records and shes fine. Shes medically trained and works in healthcare albeit in a different field.

Just curious if the abuse was a lawyer thing for case or not- sense of responsibility to any future kids as daft as sounds

Not so simple, wont go into it but not a case involing the abuse. used as a defence thing for what happened many years after when had been diagnosed for years .

It does sound like a very interesting case. I'm very interested myself actually! But, are you sure you really want to go there? Trouble is, if your partner does discover something awful will she be able to cope with it? Once whatever it is is out in the open you can't just put the lid back on as if it never happened. It won't be something she can forget. You could be opening Pandoras Box.

Sometimes its best not to know. Strange as that sounds.

Medically trained and treats people with physical disabilites all the time (therapist). Sense of responsibility thing she knows that has to be uncovered incase severely in family prior. She says though about it, wants me to accompany her to GP etc.

Shes a strong one- ended in severe violence on a 3rd party. She has already coped with that.

Ok, I see what you mean now. You're wondering if it was just used as an excuse for an attack? I would imagine she would have been seen by the Police doctor after arrest and referred to a psychiatrist for assessment as to wether or not she was fit to stand trial. In which case, ahhh ok, so she's been sectioned. I see.

Hmmm. The only way you are going to find out anything at all is through next of kin i.e. husband or whoever is point of contact for the psychiatrist. It will be in dribs and drabs and will likely take years I'm afraid.
