Driving along in the Elise at the weekend and, having been sitting quietly, Mrs. SB says:
Her: OK, so I know that the engine is in the back.
Me: Correct.
Her: And I know there is no space in the front or you'd let me put the bags in there.
Me: Correct.
Her: So... what's in the front?
Me: Well, what do you think might be in the front?
Her: The engine.
Me: No, that's in the back.
Her: So what's in the front?
Me: What do you think is in there? What could be in the front that isn't in the back?
Her: Half of the engine?
Me: Well... kind of... but no.
Her: So you've got two engines.
Me: No.
Her: So what's in the front?
Me: What can you see from the outside?
Her: A hole.
Me: And what is it for?
Her: To cool the engine.
Me: Correct. So what's in the front?
Her: Ah... the silvery pipework thingys.
Me: Which are for what?
Her: To cool the engine.
Me: Yes, how?
Her: But the engine is in the back.
Me: Why don't I just show you what's in the front when we stop?
Her: OK, so I know that the engine is in the back.
Me: Correct.

In fairness to her she did pre-amble with the fact that she was about to ask something that she considered really stupid having been trying to work it out for herself for the last 10 miles or so.

Condescending? I don't think it was. She made a statement and I confirmed it.
After we got home and I opened the front she said, "It's the radiator. So it is half of the engine."
There are some things that you just can't argue with.

not a question as such... but a statement,
she bought me a 6 pack of Guinness for my birthday a couple years ago (amongst other things, or we'd have been having words).
when i opened them i made the usual "ooh-aaah's" and thanked her.
Her: "I was trying to get you that Guinness Extra Cold that you like but i couldn't find any on the shelf?"
Me: "you didn't ask someone for it did you?"
Her: "no"
Me: "good."
This girl has two master's degrees and works in nuclear medicine. jesus.

I don't see the problem with that?? If its not on the shelf where you think it will be where else will it be???she bought me a 6 pack of Guinness for my birthday a couple years ago (amongst other things, or we'd have been having words).
