23. Bank Holidays.

You can forget all about these. If it is a Bank Holiday at home, it won't be where you are.

And the other side of the coin is that if it is a Bank Holiday where you are, it won't be at home, so everyone in head office will expect you to work normally.

S'funny. My brother in law has spent most of his adult life working in various countries around the world.

Usually manages to negotiate UK bank holidays plus local public holidays. Which is nice.

We get loads of Bank holidays here, flip side is that only 2 co-incide with the markets being shut, so we work them...Still - we do get days' off in lieu to use at other times, so not all bad I guess.

What difference does it make anyway!? I get 14 public holidays here in Austria and not one of them coincides with any British holidays. (I believe you only get 11 in the UK).

Must admit its quite nice here - we actually celebrate the Queen's Birthday and Remembrance Day - both are holidays here, as they should be. Well remembrance day anyway, not so sure about the validity of the Queen's birthday, as she gets two - the greedy cow wink

How about this for a laugh?

In Switzerland if a National holiday falls on a weekend then you dont get a day off.

So be thankfull all you UK workers who always get your bank holiday regardless of what actual day the holiday falls on........
