Force India confirm McMerc link up

At one point, a stumbling block to negotiations with Prodrive was McLaren's wish for them to use the (empty) old Woking facility. From what I recall of that internal announcement about the roadcar plans, McLaren now intend to use that facility to build them. presumably therefore, FIFI's facility and jobs at Silverstone are safe?

Let's hope they take out Ferrari a few times next year for 2 reasons:

a. McLaren can get on with the job of winning
b. How many times have Force India been fked over by the Maranello lot? Especially Sutil, who has had 2 crashes because of Ferrari (Massa in Singapore, Kimi in Monaco) and had quite a few close shaves particularly with Massa.

Let's hope they DON'T take out Ferrari a few times next year for two reasons:

1. McLaren can beat Ferrari ON TRACK. LEGITIMATELY. Again. (we'll ignore the constructors championship. Ahem. )

2. No true F1 fan likes to see dirty tricks, on track or otherwise. It's far better to see a team win (or get beaten) fair and square. I would like to think that every true racing fan on here wanted Massa to finish the race in Brazil on Sunday, so that we could watch Lewis win the championship, rather than watching Massa lose it.

Just as Ferrari have Toro Rosso, so McLaren will have FIF1.

Of course, at a strategic point in the WC its very good to have an ally you can give special engines to.
They can then run "blocker" for you, and protect you.

You don't think Ferrari didn't give specials to STR just before Brasil did you ? I certainly would have.

Now that there are strict limits on how much testing is allowed, having a second team as partner adds a lot of valuable testing input.

They were both Ferrari's and RBR's, which is why they did so well.
