My boiler is heating the house/water perfectly well, but has recently started making a bit of a boom when it fires up. It's about a year old (fitted in a newbuild house) and hasn't done this previously. Its loud enough that it can be heard 2 floors up.

Am I worrying myself over nothing or does this suggest a problem developing? TIA

I recently had the same issue with a new boiler - house circa 12 months old. Boiler then failed - turns out to be the fuel pump which needed replacing (our's is an oil fired appliance though)

Done under warranty - make sure you have the commisioning details from the installer.

Not a Boiler Engineer however!

Mine does this too, though maybe not as loud.
My mate who works for BG serviced it last week and said its fine, but could do with the fan replacing.

Before it blows!

Seriously though, in my experience, any time boilers change the noises etc they make it usually indicates a fault developing.

I didn't have the banging, but the boiler in my new build corroded from the inside out and ended up exploding.

Whatever it is, get it checked ASAP to save having to get your hall replastered..... rolleyes

Check the spark electrode (boiler equivalent of a spark plug) - may be corroded, so not sparking adequately.

Be funny if it was like the advert on the telly "oi baldy locks, baldylocks and the three hairs"

I have nothing serious to add however.

Bah, our crapile of a Powermax sounds like a low yield fission reator coming online when it fires up... Has done for about a year smile

Just to add, yes we do have the BG Homecare, and what a good move that turned out to be hehe

I've sidelined a couple of K for the Worcester Bosch next year smile
