Hello All

Loving the Cerbera - just went out to the garage to have a look at it - I'm like a child

Question about servicing:
- engine was fully rebuilt by TVR Power at 21K miles in 2005 -mileage is now 26,000
- has had a 6K service at 24900 miles in March of this year
- just had oil change prior to me picking it up

I am not going to be doing 6000 miles a year or anything like this - prob 2-3K max

Do you think I can wait until next year to have it serviced? Is it 6K or once a year whichever is earliest?

Just want to be very careful about doing anything to break this beautiful engine! I know they can be trouble

BTW = are TVR Power a good, reputable place to be having your engine rebuilt?

Cheers

Simon

6k or every year whichever is sooner, so going on the above you could wait until March 2009 before servicing it. Remember servicing is a lot more than oil changes etc (hence I would ignore the "oil change" it had just before purchase), it's a useful safety check for things like perishing fuel lines, brake check, chassis condition - in fact any number of things that can continue to perish regardless of mileage/usage (in some areas in fact, low use enhances failure rates if anything). TVR Power are very reputable and one could say the "default" choice for rebuilds, they were the factory division for engine work before being hived off when it all went tits up, so whilst independent these days of what is/was TVR, they are the closest thing to being a factory option.

Well done Simon.

Personally, I think all cars should be services every 12 months, that's more important with cars like this.

Do find out the alternitive way to open the doors when yoy are in the car smile

Agree fully with everyone else. All cars should be serviced annually as a minimum.

If I were you I would get it to TVR Power for a service and health check over the winter while things are quiet. They sometimes do a deal that time of year, and know the Speed Six as well as anyone.

With regards to your annual mileage, use it regular. It will do it no good at all sitting the garage. Just make sure the chassis gets a good clean now and then.

Congratulations on your purchase. As far as servicing is concerned, I agree with everything that has been said in the previous replies but with one addition. If you are intending to only cover a relatively small mileage, some of the indies offer a low mileage TVR service, Track V Road spring to mind.
I use them to service my T350C and have been very impressed. This way your car is serviced by a marque specialist, to TVR service schedule standards, but at a price which reflects the lower mileage covered.

Nice purchase, but what a waste! 2-3k per year? Please drive it more than that otherwise a) it will take you five years to learn how to drive it b) it will cause you more trouble than it is worth.
These cars need to be driven.
