Why do I always feel so fking miserable when I wake up with a hangover even if I had a good night?

I don't really drink during the week, but make up for it at weekends and get pretty drunk.

Is it just cos I'm feeling a bit down generally, or is this what alcohol does to you?

Cheers.

Reassure me that you're 15 and not even close to being a fully-fledged grown-up.

Wish I was 15. biggrin

Suppose I worded my question badly. Just I don't remember feeling fed up after a good night out until recently. Which is strange.

As a binge drinker myself, I can safely say that it DOES depress you. In fact, I am sitting here now with a hangover, and put it this way, I am not feeling particularly happy. I am however, feeling light headed, nauseous, and on-edge. Sometimes I wonder why we do it to ourselves. I mean, I absolutely love the nights out, but the following day is just a write off, and the amount of money that I spend is nothing short of terrifying.

Why do I do it? Well because I feel that there really isn't much else to do. I am a social person and like being with people, and this is usually the best way to do it. If I didnt do it then I wouldnt have any friends and I would feel lonely and bored.

Not quite sure what the point of this post is other than a hungover rambling

God maybe I'm still pissed - I meant to ask whether WHAT you drink could possibly affect how you feel the morning after.

Varies for me, but I can feel bloody miserable the next day. No matter how much of a "good night" I had.

Its one of the reasons I dont drink so often these days.

You're not alone; after a really heavy night I often feel depressed and anxious; definitely more than I used to. More than just a hangover. I don't tend to drink as much now as a result.

Doubt it. The only thing that can affect how you feel the next day is whatever chemicals are present in the drink, for example, dark spirits and red wine is well known for giving headaches. However, the bottom line is, a hangover can be brought on no matter what you drink, and its never going to be a nice experience.

Me too. I was really hammering the booze a few years ago and the only time I didn't feel like st was when I was pissed.

It's a vicious circle. Some is good but more is not better.

I can't manage alcohol at all. My system/brain just seems to recognise it as a toxin and I can't drink it.

find that if have lots of beer, cider, wine, shorts and weird liquers I tend to sleep walk, last time was some danish aniseed liquor called "spunk", tasted very nice and turns out most of the people were not sipping it, just appearing to do so

walking around naked at night in a campsite is something that not want to repeat smile

having soft drinks along with the alcohol helps, as does knowing your limits smile

Never get hangovers, regardless of what or how much I drink.

However I don't drink nowadays - bar the odd occasion. I don't see the need to get drunk to enjoy a social encounter, my next day isn't a write off and I have a healthy sum of money left to go and treat myself...

I tend to binge drink as well. I rarely get a headache, but used to get sever ones when I smoked. The level of depression depends very much on the level of my indiscretions the night before. biggrin

RAF pilots apparently won't fly until 8 hours later for every unit of alcohol they've had.

I think it could be a combination of the hangover, the time of year (not much sunlight), and the fact that it is easy to lie in bed moping with a hangover rather than getting some fresh air and sunshine.

If you woke up all happy and chipper it wouldn't be a hangover.

It ain't rocket science.

Hangovers are MEANT to be miserable, natures way to deter you from doing it again.

Must admit I rarely get headaches either. Sometimes, but not very often. Most of the time for me, its low mood, irritability, poor appetite, anxiousness, nausea (but i'm very, very rarely actually sick), light headedness, and a feeling that is not too disimilar to vertigo, and on rare occasions, and this is the least pleasant side effect by far, but I occasionally experience sensations that are very much like a panic attack. Things like crowds and lots of noise tend to make me like this. That is a truly dreadful experience.

Sometimes if I have a one night stand, and the girl is particularly ugly, I feel even more depressed, and often feel the need to scrub myself down in the shower, thoroughly ashamed hehe I dont often perform too well either when drunk.

One pleasant side effect of a hangover though is I seem to get incredibly horny the next day. I've often contemplated, but have never actually went through with it, the thought of getting myself down a brothel for a shag. I usually decide its cheaper and safer just to stick some porn on and polish the helmet myself.
