Some goon has bid on an item of mine but has claimed he made a mistake.

He is the current highest bidder but I don't want to have to relist.

The next bidder is only 10quid less than his bid,but it seems there are a few bidders in between his bids.

If I cancel his bids, will it remove other bids as well?

Or shall I just hope someone outbids this goon?

Ok, The scenario

First bid goes in at 99p but someone.

Then a few more bids and the price is £90
Then this goon bids upto £200, so its sitting at £100.

A couple of other people bid in the mean time and the item is currently at £160 but the goon is the highest bidder! The next highest bidder is £150.

So if I cancel the goons bid, will it drop to £150 or £90

it should drop to the highest unchallenged bid by him, so yes i think £90 im afraid, though im not 100% sure.

sorry mate, but i do think your gonna be upset. you could though, leave the auction run, and if he is out bid, fine, if he wins, agree a mutual cancellation of the item, and you get your listing fees back, then relist it

As far as I can remember you cancel the bidder, not their highest bid, so yes it will drop, but as for how much all depends on the maximum bids of the other bidders.

If you don't want to list again, are happy with the region of bidding it has reached then just delete the bidder. Seems the easiest option rather than hoping he is outbid and then when he is not all the kerfuffle that could then ensue.
