One of my sons has recently joined the Merchant Navy as a Cadet Officer. He is off to the Med in a few days for six weeks as part of his portfolio/training (Hoggen can probably explain this better than me).
Anyway, he just showed me this book he has:

WTF? I mean, I know the Merchant Navy's run on very much like the real Navy and I know it must get lonely at sea, but do you really have to keep a record every time you crack one off?
I can just imagine how it would be filled in:
"27/11/08. Been at sea for approximately three weeks. Was just discussing the merits of Tomb Raider and up came Mr Happy. Quick trip to the toilet and discharge completed at 10.15pm, approx 10cc. Wiped and flushed."

That's very funny
A while back I found a copy of "The Royal Navy Officer's Pocket-book 1944" in a slightly eccentric independent bookshop. It's quite interesting actually. I had to buy it.
For example, "Note: There is no such thing in Naval Law as 'Having Drink Taken'. A man is either Drunk or Sober." They really loved capital letters in those days.
Contrats anyway, that's a great career. You must be very proud. Apart from the discharge bit. I told my son that he should consider a career in the Navy but he was only 3 months old at the time so he just burped...
