Solid Businss Suit
Discussion
I am in the market for a suit, I am flexible on the style but I want one that will maintain its shape over the course of 4 days.
Over recent years I have had 2 makes of suit, M&S and Gieves & Hawkes.
The M&S suits I buy for exhibitions and week long road trips but I find with heavy use they tend to trail off in terms of shape and look a bit shabby by the end of a long week and before I have had chance to get it to a dry cleaners.
Gieves & Hawkes I buy for the more important meetings and special occasions. I love their suits, but I do not hammer them.
Can anyone recommend me a make/brand/tailor who can provide a decent suit for £200-£300 that looks the part and will stand up to a combination of long drives followed by days at exhibitions late nights etc

Austin Reed do some HD suits for about £600.
Tip: buy a suit bag and take your bag on board with you, then you'll never suffer the missing in action look again.
Airlines have lightened up a bit on baggage for business travellers and most peeps I see on business class have 2 bags - 1 for the travelling office and 1 for clothes.
If only we could get those security muppets to lighten up on the toiletry items in carry-on luggage, the world of air travel would be back to near normal, pre 911 days.

get to leeds much? there's a tailor on lower briggate who will make you a suit for around £300.
sounds suspiciously cheap but i've seen him mentioned in a few magazines. may have retired by now but worth a look.
you need to get onto lee evan's tailor if you want one to wear for 4 days straight

I have one from here:

It fits really well, it has lasted really well - it's one I wear to death and chuck at the dry cleaners once a week - and I've had it for a year or so now and it shows no sign of wear.
Cost around £280 - also I used their measure yourself guide thing and it worked a treat.
Not brilliant on comms but arrived bang on the estimated date...
Cheers

I've got an Alan Bennet semi-tailored suit (made in France, adjusted by the tailor). It was bought for me but I remember it being around £350
Virtually a tailored saville row suit that doesn't cost the earth. Looks great and takes a pounding. I've had it since I was 18.
You might also want to try Oliver Benjamin, he's got a few branches around London and is a fellow Caterham Racer! I'm sure he does this sort of stuff too.
