Does anyone else have collegues who use random foreign words even though thet have a limited understanding of the language.

e.g. The twunts in our sales office answer telephone's with Bonjour, then have their conversation in english then sign off with danke, au revoir - Ignorant twonks!

It is now spreading throughout the company and there are multiple idiots wondering around spewing random ciao's, merci's and guten tag's!

I just wondered if this is a national epidemic or only existant here in planet zob?

i totally disagree.

I work in a company that has loads of foreigns in my working circle - and as a true brit (who would like to be on tour), i feel the need to say please, thanks, and ask for the bill in the language i've guessed to be appropriate for the person I am speaking to. In my mind, this is polite, and excusable when I get confused as to what language to speak to a bloke in an italian resteraunt in berlin (French was seemingly what I was looking for, you lives and learns).

My group of foreigns seem to like the effort made, so I can't see it as a bad thing.

Yeah but these are not foreign at all, they are from a local hick town on the outskirts of Newcastle. Nor are they speaking to foreigners and if they were thay couldn't get past the hello part anyway!

I get the distinct impression they think they are being cosmopoliton. I guess they are in a Del Trotter kind of way.

Retards!

Well there you go then - no matter what they say it'll be in a foreign language, they certainly can't speak English wink

They certainly don't sound like the "Creme de la menth" of society silly

I do my mornings greatings to my co workers in French. They respond in other languages. One in Japansese, one in German, one in Italian, One in Bangladeshi.

All of them are from Wigan and I'm a posh scouser.

Does it matter ?

Someone in my office thanks people by saying "Muchus Penis" irked

And my boss finishes everything with "Chaars" instead of Cheers?

That may come from a gentleman's comedian who translated 'Thank you very much cock' as 'Muchos gratias penis'.

I work for a German company, and everyone (including me) in doing German lessons. I have noticed recently that "thank you" has been entirely replaced by "danke"
