Why is it such an issue for people that he chooses not to be fleeced by UK taxes? Very few F1 drivers choose to stay in the UK for that exact same reason.
I am sure he would much rather live here with his mates & family nearby, as he's only a young kid & is probably lonely as hell living in exile. Additionally, IIRC, one of his main reasons for moving to Switzerland was to escape the British red top press...
Personally, I think he is an very much needed inspiration to young kids. It is such a shame that as soon as a British person becomes truly World class successful, the general population feels the need to run them down.

It seems obvious that a space is required on here for grown men to be able to speak openly about their feelings for Lewis Hamilton. He is a very talented and attractive young man and there’s no shame in admitting you have actually fallen in love with Hamilton. Bottling up these emotions only leads to frustration and anger - witness recent fervent negativity directed towards the FIA, Ferrari, all other F1 drivers, and anyone else who is not ‘in love’ with Hamilton. It comes across like witless tabloid-stirred aggression, but really its a higher emotion, a poetry, a stirring.
Chaps, its time to come out, get it out, and allow a return to rational discussion on General Motorsport.

it's mainly been the huge (but understandable) UK media bias that's put a lot of people off imo. he is a bit corporate but that largely comes with the job
i don't see how anyone can blame him for wanting to move out of the UK - tax might be a small part of the reason but maintaining some crumb of normality in his life might be more on his mind
for sure he does come across as being a little arrogant in some interviews but why not he's just proved himself amongst the best drivers in the world - if i had his skills, his potential, his support, his girlfriend, and his money, i'd probably 5hit my eyes out of my head in one week

mr thomas tvr i know you have a problem with hamilton snr being on tv but do you think he actively asks the crew to keep showing pics of him and getting interviews him?
fact is he knows lewis best, he's accessible, and he's helped get him where he is. i've not heard you complain about massa snr being on tv (tho admittedly half your posts are the same old arguement with flemke et al so i tend to skim
) but i'd suggest that brazilian tv show a fair amount of him (and massa's brother)

I've been at a loss during the last few days with regard to the vitriol directed at Hamilton for secreting himself in Switzerland.
DC has been living in Monaco for about 12 years; Button for at least 5 years. James Toseland has been a tax exile in the IoM for a few years, as has Shane Byrne. No-one bleats about that, but as soon as a young British lad becomes WDC, then it's a free-for-all.
Nobody - publicly - has castigated DC for living the tax-exile lifestyle on the back of his lack of F1 success whilst launching after-shaves and hotels. No-one has criticised Button for living the playboy lifestyle on the back of just one GP win.
Why should Hamilton stay in Blighty to endure crippling taxes and the attention of red-top "news" papers that are all too keen to print barely believable stories regarding his private life?

I admire his abilities (and his girlfriend) hugely, but I'm not really a fan. LH is undoubtedly a corporate dream - always thanking the right sponsors and the team. He's well presented, drives brilliantly and has a winning smile, but to me he's almost like a machine. They have created the perfect racing driver.
I'm delighted that he won the title, but I'm more delighted for McLaren than for him. I'm almost apathetic about LH, really.
I know we'll never get back to the days of Hunt and the like and their daft antics, but modern F1 drivers largely leave me cold - and Hamilton is the absolute ultimate incarnation of the breed. A total contrast to Rossi - or even DC.
