Me and the other half need to get a honeymoon sorted. We've not travelled outside of Europe before and are unsure of where to go next April.
We are only looking at going for a couple of weeks so Australia etc probably a little too far and spending around 3k.
I'm not to fussed on sitting on my arse for two weeks so purely a beach holiday wouldn't be ideal.

Suggestions please,

Ed

We did a twin centre holiday.

One week in Dubai's hussle and bussle and then one week in the Maldives.

Had a great time, total cost was about £3500, but that was ten years ago.....

Niagra falls is quite spectacular, no beaches and plenty of walking to do!

We got married there 2+ years ago & then went to Borneo for our honeymoon (a year later).

We did a Thomas Cook tour in Borneo, it was excellent, a real varied holiday, not relaxing by any means though.

We did Sri Lanka and had stayed 17 nights, had our own suite & swimming pool for just over £1600pp. Highly recommend it or how about Thailand, Phuket/Krabi? i think you may get more for your money here than Australia, plus i couldnt hack the 24hr flight!

Sri lanka has move poverty but is visually spectacular. Thailand has more to do for the tourist. If you want to relax go to Sri Lanka. If you want to do things go to Thailand.

How about Cuba?

We have just booked 2 weeks in Tanzania and the Zanzibar, it is £2.1k each and then another £500 ppfor the flight to Dar Es Salam, you can spend less and go on safari but it once in a lifetime (well at the moment anyway).

Sri Lanka had some good deals on at the moment as isn't as dangerous as people would have you believe.

What about driving across Canada or the USA?

We have looked at the Maldives, it looks really nice but is there anything to except sleeping on a beach?

Not really, unless you like diving/snorkelling.

We did the Maldives this year & I was bored after a week, thats no reflection on the other half though smile

What do you both enjoy doing? Rather than go with the standard Maldives/Seychelles options why not think of it not as a "honeymoon" but the opportunity for a dream holiday?

Various friends of mine have done these as a "honeymoon"
  • Trekking in South America (Inca trail)
  • Driving in the Dolomites
  • Touring New Zealand (wedding present list was activities and restaurants for their trip)
  • Trekking in the Himalayas
  • über-Luxury ski holiday

We did a twin centre holiday:

10 days in Grand Cayman for a nice relaxing beach break
7 days in the Yucatan (Mexico) to see the Mayan ruins etc

We had an awesome time.
