I live in North London and I've never been to Brent Cross, so there is bugger all chance of me ever going to Westfield. I have a pathological hatred of shopping malls.

It was by the looks of it in the papers at the weekend. Traffic jammed, queue for the carpark and the tube station had to close due to over-crowding..!!

Still want to go tho

I did lots of work there, it is huge! If you're driving then yes it's a bugger and expensive to park. Go by Tube and it's a breeze. It is busy at the moment so I would leave it until next week when things may have quietened down a bit.

Some areas are still not finished and some shops not yet opened.

Personally I think a lightweight shopping mall with a high power to weight ratio sounds like a great idea... even if the fiberglass body is a bit pony

I'll get me coat

went saturday lunchtime. used the tube and no busier than a normal saturday. the queue for cars looked a nightmare though.

tbh it was anywhere near as busy as i thought it would be, though the food outlets were rammed [used debenhams cafe, no queue there].

Yes, went on Sunday.

The place is epic in proportions, it really is vast.

However... a lot of it still isn't open i.e. most of the Village section (Louis Vuitton, Prada, De Beers, and the majority of the expensive boutique shops) Tiffany, Mont Blanc and Dior are however open.

quite a few of the 'restaurants' are actually more like concessions with the seating like a school canteen. The only realy 'restaurant open is Nando's. On Sunday, despite being told the food bit should be open til 10pm, it closed at 6pm with the shops (tad annoying as we were going to grab a bit before going home).

We took the train, got the central line to White City. Shephards Bush is closer, but everyone gets off there and then queues for ages to get out of the station. I'd recommend staying on for another 30 seconds then doing a 2 min walk from White City instead.

The shops are all huge and the facilities (loos, cash points etc are all great)

You will need a good full day if you're with anyone who likes taking time to go round each shop.

The more people describe it - the more hellish it sounds.

If it doesn't have a decent model shop or book shop - I don't want to know.

why bother... just get in your car or get on the train and go somewhere nice for the day... bath, cambridge, etc etc by the time you've got into westfield you may as well have 'had a run out'..!

i went to the trafford centre, once, and I thought i'd had my soul stolen.

and no, it won't be better than, horrific, oxford street.

there is a bookshop.

as mentioned on other thread, its nowhere you'd go unless its raining and really need something. nothing you can;t find on the high street but better than other malls. however, once the opening security goes and the hoodies move in.........

Agreed.

There are also loads of brands there selling minging clothes which cost a fortune.

I can see the store lineup changing by at least 50% in under 12 months' time!

I'd prefer to get wet.

I'm not a natural shopper and steer clear of such establishments unless I am forced in by circumstances.
