We've gone down the less is more route this year. Same money spent, but instead of buying hundreds of pop rockets we've brought a selection of rockets that'd look more at home being fired from the shoulder by the men in turbans.

Spent too much money on online firework purchases.

All gone in 5-6 minutes. -Worth every penny.

However, got 'firework lust' and started considering use of old can of petrol in the shed to keep the crazy pyrotechnics going.

Wife sat me down and calmed me with a sparkler, a pasty and pint of beer.

I claim that our firework displays are better than any public one.

There's usually 6 blokes armed with two lighters, trying to set off 12 rockets all at once. Obviously you always get the moment when everyone elses rockets are lit apart from yours, you see them leg it, and you're left praying yours light so you don't become responsible for ruining the previous 5 minutes of planning using drain pipes, mum's washing line and a bucket of stones hehe

I'm not allowed my own display after last year. Things that were badly damaged include;

My credit card
My mates hand
An Evergreen Oak tree
A Greenhouse
2 Hazel fence panels
A neighbours roof
My marital relationship
The fridge
Our reputation in the village as upstanding members of the community
A Vauxhall Corsa
The Lawn
An oak Water Butt
The wheelie bin (beyond repair)
The hoover tube (used for mortar attacks)

Sometimes women have no sense of humour.

Oh dear! I bet you had fun though!

I'm doing my own little display again on Saturday night. My fiance absolutely hates the things though, so she normally hides in the house when I do them. I'll be outside with a few friends and my dad blazing away.

I always end up spending far too much money on fireworks but I love them (I think I have a problem lol). I usually end up trying to see how many I can set off at once too. I think my record is two rockets and a mine all in one go! Not great but that was with a piddly little lighting stick.

Thats a point, someone on here mentioned online purchases. Any good shops online? I would like to buy them all year round, not just at this time of the year!

I’ll do my usual.

Buy a couple of air bombs and rig them up to a mobile phone detonator in the garden.

Lots of shops online.

However I got an e-mail after placing my order telling me that they could no longer legally ship the rockets i'd ordered to private individual.

We went to a shop in acton instead, seemed reasonable enough.

Did you get the Black Puma box? I got 2 of those last year, pretty good IMO. Muc, much better than the Asda atuff I got the year before.

I also invested in a decent pack of rockets from a local display outfit (the rockets were legal for use at home).

Have done the same this year. Can't wait.

I spend about £100 every year, but £400, thats awesome. I guess you'll get about, erm, 5 minutes for that? smile

Would love to spend that if I had the money, even though i'd be in trouble lol.
