Interesting year for me, took a break and now wish I hadn't. Every time I've even got as far as an interview the interviewer has made the same comment, "hmm the CV looks a bit skippy" or "so you've had quite a few jobs in a short space of time"
I've had three jobs and temp job in 7 years and one of those jobs was to go and work with some colleagues from the previous company. Is that too many? Or are people just being ultra critical these days? The oddest thing is, nobody even seems to be concerned whether you're any good at your job just how long you were at the last place.
e.g. a job I was turned down for for this reason went eventually to an ex colleague who was useless and rude to clients and candidates alike, didn't bill as much and took 72 days off sick and on extra holiday this year alone. Harumph, just not fair.

Its a weird thing to have people say that sort of thing in a way that makes you think you're now unemployable.

Well I'm changing career path anyway, which probably backs up their argument to be honest. Anyone have any tips on journalism, been a passion of mine for ages but just not really sure where to start.

Doing a course in journalism, ideally back to Uni such as Sheffield (reknowned for it), and starting at a local paper or a place like PA News, or start off writing local articles and submitting them to the local paper.

What sort of journalism are you interested in? Friend fo mine from school managed to get into sports journalism on local BBC radio and now gets to cover the footy matches and loves it. He worked his way up.

I was thinking of doing a course, not sure I can do a full time one though as the mortgage needs to be paid, though it may be able to get around that I guess. Friend has suggested one of the sort courses offered by the NCTJ as an alternative.
As for the type of journalism, well after the rather obvious cars one I would like Foreign affairs/Security.
