Im installing a safe and the bolts with the expanding bits at the end keep pulling out of the concrete floor. A friend told me that he used to use a glue in a glass vile that you put into the hole and then put in the bolt which breaks the glass and sets permantly.

Anyone know what its called or can help.

Ive tried various bolts with expanding bits at the end and cannot get a secure enough hold into the concrete floor.

Thanks

Are you drilling the holes deep enough? and clean enough? It sounds like the holes are too large for the expansion part to grip.

Maybe a better drill so the bit doesn't wander so much as it's going in.

Do you know why? If it's just because the holes are too big then filling the holes with cement or the glue you're after might help. But if the concrete is crumbling because it simply isn't strong enough then just pouring glue in the hole might still not be strong enough. Are you sure the bolts you're using are long enough?

Have a look at the resin kits - esp the mesh plug which is injected with resin - very effective

Epoxy/chemical bolts/anchors are what you are looking for, I used to use them years ago, drill hole insert glass test tube with epoxy stuff hammer in bolt tighten and set and then re-tighten.
May have them on ebay.

Its probably a combination of two things, some of the expanding bolts are st and the hole is now to big. Filling the hole with cement or glue will NOT work. Go to a builders merchant or the likes of Screwfix and get Resin Bolts, its the only thing that will give a satisfactory & permenant result. Dont fart about, just do it right.

No More Nails works a treat. Our sink was loose on the wall, four big screws with rawl plugs, all wiggly and loose. So, I got a drinking straw and used it to blow all the loose dust out of the holes in the wall, then I used the pointy nozzle and squirted No More Nails in deep around the existing rawl plugs, and left it 12 hours to set, and it was still rock solid two years later when we moved out. It is not actually 'gluing' anything together, just creating a solid lump that fits snug and tight in the rough hole that is already there.

biggrin

Or you could use the proper epoxy that is designed and sold for just that sort of job. frown
