Herself's 2001 Mini One (Petrol) has become completely inoperative for no reason whatsoever...

It had been parked up for 2 weeks, and she came to it today to find that the remote locking wasn't working, and there was a small puddle of water in the front driver's footwell. None of the windows were open or anything.

There is nothing whatsoever happening when the ignition key is turned. I tried jumpstarting the battery, to no avail- It seems as if the battery is completely disconnected, although none of the wires appear to be missing...

Any ideas, so I can Win Mechanics?

If the footwell has water in it then chances are the BC1 (general module)has been water contaminated as its to the right and down by the throttle pedal behind carpet and trim.

Also the EWS is in 'A' pillar just above,so if the water is coming down it may well be getting into that which will prevent the mini starting.

another fault can be with the power steering pump which will cause the exact same faults.

ideally you need someone to come out to it with a GT1 and run a test.

Where are you in brizzol...im in chepstow

Ta muchly! Haven't got a scooby why the water suddenly got in but I did think the two might have been related... Electronics and water not mixing etc.

It's not a major problem since she does not need the car in the week. Did stuff up the shopping trip though wink The friendly local mechanic will be despatched in the week.

This happened to me. Went away on holiday for 2 weeks, Mini wasn't driven at all. Got back, tried to start it up, wouldn't start. Needed new battery.
