I know, totally cheesy. But someone had to do it.

What is wrong with an old upturned table or tyre?

1949 oldsmobile lead sled - by the look of it it's had some serious chopping done, inches out the bodywork as well as the roof, U tubed chassis and bodywork channelled over chassis to boot.

Very nice job.

hehe precisely.

You'd be surprised how far you can turn the wheel even with the bodywork coverage there is on that car. OK you aren't going to be doing any three point turns unless it's on a motorway, but everyday manoeuvring isn't too bad with a bit of thought.

I'm not normally a fan of silly yank metal, but that car looks ACE.

Wouldn't like to try to get it into an NCP though...

Oh how wrong you all are. The ultimate sled, I can assure you, comes from Solihull.

Take one slightly tatty Series Land Rover LWB roof destined for an autojumble or similar, unbolt from vehicle at gutter line, turn upside down, and get 8 of you in at the top of a very steep hill. We did not know if it would work, and for a laugh we did it in the dark.

Sat in it, pushed it along with our hands, and it sounded something like "Schchchhchchchhchch chchchchhcshs

hshshhshshshshhsh sshshhhc hchhchchc hhc shshs
hhss shshhshs shsh shs
hhshsh shs

shhs shh sh s

h

sh s

sh"

with the big silent gaps being the bit where it was airborne and probably doing well in excess of 35mph!!!! We bailed out one by one and it went straight through the fence at the bottom of the hill (sorry farmer, this was many years ago and we were drunk students and we did try and fix it as best we could...)
