Guys

Having just completed a few jobs such as new discs and pads, shocks, rack gaiters and track rod ends I thought I may as well get a servicing kit off ebay and do the annual service myself too. You know its all been done that way and save a few readies.

Who would be put off buying a car without a stamp in the book, just receipts for parts used. Keeping in mind its a Chim, so pretty basic stuff.

Personally, it wouldn't bother me on a Chimaera. Keep a sleeve with the receipts for all the parts on that date to compensate for the stamp, then sign the service booklet yourself put a reference to the sleeve with receipts? That way a potential owner will see that you've looked after the car well yourself.

Dealer stamps do affect resale value as rightly or wrongly they give a level of confidence the car has been looked after correctly to both other dealers and customers whatever the age.

But if you are keeping the car or won't be looking for a top price at selling time - and of course have the knowledge, skill and tools then why not do it yourself as many on here do.
