Nov 15th - Brands race timings?
Discussion
We have to qualify in the dark to race in the dark, so there will be a short qualifying session as soon as it is technically MSA-recognised "darkness", ie, around 3.50pm, then await the qualifying times to be published, form up the grid, and away with the race, which must finish at 6.29pm. The timetable isn't published yet, but there will no doubt be a Britcar free practice session some time during the day.

Steve, do me a favour, make sure they allow enough time for qualifying, some of us have 3 drivers for this event and we all need to do a minimum of 3 laps each in order to meet the regs etc.Steve Britcar said:
Rod, I think you over-estimate my powers within the organisation.
Steve, I have faith mate, suggest the following if you get the chance.20 mins, not good, seriously bad decision, tyres will still be as cold as a witches tits

30 mins, still too short allowing for 2 red flags, Henry's second suit change, driving rain/sleet/snow, power cuts, night vision goggle adjustments, and medical attention as a result of neck burns from Moslers sporting 6 xenon's, 4 wide beam laser fog killers, 3 multi directional, bouncing/vibrating, 1000 watt search lights and an array of xmas tree lights.

40 mins, Better, but not quite there, as even tyres reduced to half a bar pressure with a track temp of minus 10 degrees will still be resisting heat despite sitting on the brake pedal for 3 laps after each driver change

60 mins, Ah, that's the ticket, should give everyone the time to relax a bit and get the necessary laps in without adding a stop watch into an situation that has all the hallmarks of a pack of wild dogs chasing a pork chop on a bungee rope.

It’s now up on the Britcar site under events, couldn't copy the whole timetable so just picked out the Britcar section.

Has anyone seen the entry, Britcar on paper is often good, in reality often bad, very bad!
If you are referring to the fact that one sometimes sees an entry list that then differs to the actual number of cars on the grid, yes, this often happens for many different reasons in all series. In Britcar this season there have been those who couldn't get a grid slot as it was fully subscribed, sometimes there have been a few slots available, that's the nature of the beast. It is easy to forget the amount of work, risk and effort that goes into (A) Running a championship series and (B) entering a team/car, for the financial burdens on both sides are often difficult to control.I believe it is wrong of you to imply criticism of a system that brings racing enjoyment to many purely based on the fact that from time to time some teams and drivers don't have all their ducks in a row. The series operators do their very best to attract as many cars into the series that they can, the teams and drivers also do their level best to be out there on the day but please bear in mind that the cost of running these cars for a weekends racing, GT wise, starts at circa £5k if you do it as cheaply as you can, with some teams committing to up to £15k a time, that sir, is a s
t load of money by most normal standards. So if you see and entry list that then turns out to be somewhat different to the teams and drivers actually taking part, cut everyone a bit of slack,it's not easy, practically when times are hard economically.
I'm sure your original comment was not intended to belittle the efforts that all parties put into providing an exciting race weekend, but frankly, few people realise just what goes into making these events happen, and even less understand the costs involved.
Not really having a go, just wanted to put the matter in context.

When i was going through the entry list yesterday there were 32 entries for the night race at Brands.
Like Rod says thats the list that we put together when teams have advised us they are coming but when we chase them for the entry fees they often pull out. Times are tough for all but i feel we will get a great turn out for this end of season final and on behalf of James and the rest of the team we would like to wish everyone the best of luck for a great race.....
I will post the entry list, timetables etc on to this website tomorrow when i'm back in the office.

My comments relate to Britcar publishing an entry in a programme of quality and then on race day a number of entries fail to show. As a spectator or marshall having a long race with half a grid is tedious in the extreme. Now I know some drop out for genuine reasons but i also recall last year at Brands entries were in the programme that were just not genuine. One significant regular competitor at Brands was "entered" but he had never submitted an entry for this race or any other Britcar race, never raced in Britcar and never had a suitable car.
