I have posted an apology in the 'fantastic photos' thread, but seeming it moves on so quickly, I wanted to make sure those who it applies to would get a better opportunity to see it, by having a standalone thread.
Regarding the photo of the car.
I am sorry if my posting of the pic has offended anybody. In reality I misread the title of the thread as 'dramatic' moments rather than 'fantastic'. If I had bothered to read the thread title properly I would not have posted it. Was there another, similar thread of dramatic moments?
The reason I did post it, assuming I had been right in the title, was that to me and my better half, it was an incredibly dramatic moment. It was two months since the accident, after the Police had released the car, and the first opportunity for her to see how violent and destructive the event had been. It was enough to bring her straight to tears. It is in no way a trophy to me or anybody else; rather a stark reminder of how quickly a ton of metal can become a potential coffin. Frankly to look at that picture it makes me sick.
In any case, once again I apologise if I have offended anybody at all and hope that can be the end of the matter.

I must admit I thought you were brave/a little foolish putting that picture on that thread but didn\'t want to say anything.

I think it was foolish putting up a picture of his damaged car and saying how amazing it was that he survived. Need I be any more specific?

Was there a thread of 'dramatic' moments, or is that just figment of my imagination?

Good on you 10ps. I didn't see the post as i haven't looked on that thread for a while.
That said whilst I am 99% certain I know the photo(s) you posted up I can see how you could have made the mistake, I just hope that there wasn't too much laying into you over it.
As someone who from time to time captures images of events which can sometimes have tragic outcomes I have always been of the opinion that it is down to those directly affected as to whether these should be released into the public domain. Whilst every one has an opinion there is, to my mind, a clear weighting to be attached to each. Someone who was directly affected by the subject matter of such images should have far more gravity attached to their opinion than that of someone who has never met those involved, wasn't there and, other than casting their eyes over an image and reading reports, has no tangible connection to the events depicted.

the being alive, not the crash
