...and the Beeb's somewhat premature and thus shallow offering?
Well, take a look at Spooks....which was filmed months ago, but planned to be screened now.

Don't laugh but Debenhams in Oxford Street have had their Christmas decoration up for a week now!

I think wearing a poppy this time of the year is an honour, and if the BBC plan to film ahead good for them!

Be patriotic and put a few quid into the red container and help those who have fought for our freedom and given limbs, lives and their all for us.

It's nearly the end of the month, I figure anything from Oct. 20 to the end of November is fair game.

Didn't see Spooks - were they wearing poppies?

If so, unsuprising, as they would have known the TX date many, many months in advance.

Of course, it was nothing to do with the fact that the plot revolved around Remembrance Sunday? rolleyes

Wasn't the plot line centred around the rememberance day service though?

ETA - too slow again!!!

Seriously?
A whole 2 MONTHS before?

I think anytime in December is fair game, any earlier and they're taking the piss.

Personally I don't celebrate that trash, but there seems to be such a big build up to Christmas, I get sick of it by the 25th, the excess hype seems to kill it.

Or just donate a tenner to the royal British Legion instead?!

Not got a poppy yet, I tend not to until about a week before but I think it is right that people wear them and if they choose to wear them this early, so be it. Perhaps it will serve to remind people that they should get one and show appreciation and respect for those who have served their country.

Quite frankly I fail to see why we can't wear a Poppy all year round, we are honouring the same people who fought and died for our freedom after all. Why limit our gratitude to two weeks in the year?

Absolutely, and its worth stating that the Earl Haig fund also helps our troops who have been injured and or disabled in the current conflicts, but not enough me thinks...the government should do more! (mini rant over)

Personally I don't wear one much before November 1st, but why all the anti-BBC stuff?

The Royal British Legion sets the date when poppies go on sale, and the BBC took their advise on when to start wearing them. As for spooks? FFS - would have looked bloody silly for members of the security services NOT to be wearing them on rememberance sunday.
