I know they are rare but why do they fetch such a premium? Surely if you wanted to own/drive a TVR abroad you would just live with a right hand drive model and save thousands.. or am I missing something here...?

Well there are several categories of LHD:

- LHD with a valid EU certificate of conformity for that car

- LHD without C of C

The first one can be easily registered in many EU countries.
The second one may be possible but it will take many, many months of work and cost upwards of 5k euro with no guarantee that it will be accepted in the end.

If the C of C isnt available with the car you cant get one now that TVR doesnt legally exist anymore.

Added to the fact that TVR never did any full EU type approvals (except for a few versions of the Chim) means that any car that is already non UK registered carries a significant premium.

Even my humble S is worth more today than I paid for it 19 years ago in the UK.

Bought RHD Chimmy... even coming straight out of a LHD car when swapping I find it no bother at all. It's worth about half of an officially imported LHD example, but then that's what I paid for it. biggrin
