HTC G1 or iPhone 3G

Another phone post. Sorry if you don’t care for this type of topic but don’t read it if you don’t care.
HTC G1 or iPhone 3G:
I have run a first gen iPhone for the last year and once it was jailbroken and I gained access to the full range of apps it really was a great unit. I have loved my iPhone but been the geek that I am as soon as upgrade time rolled round I have the urge to change.
Do I get another iPhone that I know I will love or should I be an early adopter, signed up for a HTC G1 running android?
I know the iPhone will be stunning but I have had one previously, the G1 is a new phone running a new OS and looks like it could be a real good phone for a gadget geek like myself.
I am not looking for a specific answer, more a open discussion as to the pros and cons of both. Thanks
