Were any other PH'ers there?

Totally blown out of proportion by the media - they failed to mention that all the competitors would have stayed out overnight as part of the race anyway........

"it rained in the Lake District" SHOCK NEWS

When you consider the number of runners in Hospital after the London marathon in good weather it shows what a hardy bunch the fell runners are, still better ban it in this cotton wool society.

True - the London Marathon sucks up far more of the taxpayers money and volunteer time than the OMM did. It is the level of mis-reporting that gets me. Every single person on the event was expecting to spend the night in the hills anyway, regardless of the weather. MR team members were competing, along with people from the rest of the emergency services.

What a load of b^*locks.

Not helped by the backside-covering from the authorities.

What I find stupid is the fact that noone was forced into doing the run. Everybody taking part could easily have assessed whether or not they wanted to do it based on the weather conditions.

What did they expect to happen? Not be wet and windy in the middle of October in the Lake district? The media are stupid. Completly blowing everything out of proportion. People attend this event because they want the conditions they experienced.

The event is held in October precisely because the weather will be worse and so offer a greater challenge. It's the media doing the hand-wringing - the participants are mainly wringing kit out now.
