Yes its an unadulterated pile of vvank. My housemate is watching it at the moment, I cant believe how slow and disjointed the game is.

Oh well, only 10 minutes till the sky flicks over to the new Futurama episode hehe

I'm not a huge fan but I certainly wouldn't deride it. Most of us over here can't get on with it because we don't truly understand its nuances. It's the reason why most Americans would never "get" cricket.

Don't knock it, it's the only sport that makes Cricket look pacy and exciting. . . . .

Hard to believe it started out as Rugby with shorts and shirt and has become the gayest uniform of any sport - ultra tight trousers, padded bra and crash helmet! rofl

I like it when they are actually playing but find it very frustrating to watch live as the game is so fragmented - a 1 hour match takes 4+ hours to play!

If I ever saw a play last more than a minute it might get my attention a bit, as it is i'm surprised even the players don't get fking bored and frustrated

The UK is not the place to watch the games, go to the US and watch one and its more like an event rather than just a match, well it has been when I have been.

Its a funny sport, I got into it when C4 showed it in the 80s, to start with I thought it was crap but once you get used to how the games work and the way the plays are developed its quite cool - but much better watched than seen on TV; loads of the game develops off camera. Its very similar to rules footie, that doesnt work on TV but when you actually see it especially in a big stadium - MCG etc - it really works!

The most I can make out is that it is a game geared up for adverts. I am knocking it. Got the proper version over here.

I went to a game in New Orleans in 1999, but I'm not really into US razzmatazz. Just a bit OTT for me. I prefer the sport to speak for itself and it just feels contrived to fit the frequent advertising requirements of USA TV. Watching highlights shows, or even the whole match but with the breaks cut makes it more watchable IMO.

The worst of all the American sports by some margin.

On TV I agree with you, but I quite liked the whole event type element of the game/day when seeing it live.

When I lived over there I used to regularly out-bore sports bores by explaining to them that even they used to play proper rugby and call it rugby and only started changing the rules and name a century ago. If that didn't shut them up I would tell them about how we invented Baseball as an easier version of Cricket for ladies to play and that the sport was first mentioned in Jane Austen's novel 'Northanger Abbey' in 1798, way before any American mention of the sport! hehe

Went to see it at the giants stadium and actually quite enjoyed it except for the ref who kept chucking a yellow thing on the floor every 20 seconds.

It may have seemed better because in the dieing minutes someone caught the ball in there own inzone and ran the length of the field to score a touchdown.

Its not a sport its a show. (a really long boring one at that).
I cannot for the life of me see why anyone would like the game.
