Running your personal finances........
Discussion
In the bank queue the other day, a young girl around 20 in front of me with a baby in a pushchair went up to the cashier with an anxious look about her......
Girl..."Can you give me a balance please, I hope I haven't gone into an overdraft because I've got a direct debit going out"...
Cashier..."It's OK you have £00.01p in your account"
G..."Has sky TVgone out??
C..."Yes, went out yesterday"
G..."Thank god for that, I'm still in credit....that's OK then"...

So a young mum who was actually concerned enough about her finances to go to the bank & inquire. The fact the direct debit going out was sky is irrelevant & coincidental, could of easily been the gas bill. Well done her I say for keeping her finances in order.
Edited to add:- I wish I was 00.01p in credit at the moment

Stereotype alert.
The point being, if she had have been even a pound in arrears she probably would have been hit by an overdraft charge of 30 odd pounds, for the sake of... what is hardly an essential purchase....

Not at all, I was genuinely concerned for the girl.......Two of my sons were once hit for bank charges of around £35 when they accidently went a couple of pounds overdrawn a few years ago, a very expensive mistake from which they have now both learnt from.....Just common sense and good housekeeping......

so she is having a tight month because its the credit crunch,
TBH, she doesn't sound like the type that's running her own business that would be affected by the recession. I'd wager that her income hasn't dropped.so much stereotyping going on.
Women beware! dont walk around with a pushchair looking after your finances, or clearly you are some benefit robbing chav.

I think the point of my original post has got lost along the way...The fact the DD was for Sky was not really the issue, it's her life she can do what she wants...I just figured it would have been a shame to trigger an excessive overdraft penalty for the sake of a few pence.....she was sailing rather close to the wind..........Gassing Station | The Pie & Piston Archive | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

TONKER!!
it was born out of genuine concern for her,.. she was old enough to be my grandaughter........
