Ok, so I'm tempted to splash out on a PS3, but there aren't any games I want to buy it for!
I was thinking 60gb, but then realised we have 2 working PS2's in our flat, so no need to get one, so I'll be going for a 40gb brand new if I do.. Don't see the point in the 80gb when you can buy an internal 340HD for about £40!
But what games are there for PS3? GT5P is not reason enough for me to buy it, nor is MGS4. I own and have very briefly played MGS2 years ago when it came out, and wasn't impressed, and never touched 3.. So what else is out there worth buying? Bear in mind I have a 360, so games that are on both platforms need not apply. Thanks smile

Kind of answered your own question there. I'd hold out until something you really like comes out for it, maybe Little Big Planet will tickle your fancy. Best game I have on mine is Uncharted which I must have played through a good five or six times.

Have you got a Xbox 360?

If you have there is no point buying a PS3 IMO.
If you haven't then there are plenty of PS3 games now - Dead Space, Bioshock, Drakes Fortunes etc. Most games released are cross platform. I still prefer the 360 but there is no reason not to get a PS3.

I wouldn't bother if you already have a 360 as most games are multi platform now, although Little big planet is worth a mention and it is a good Blu ray player.

I wont get a 360 for the same reasons, not much point for Just Forza.

It's an OK Blu-ray player. The latest generation of standalone players are better and cheaper now however.

I would be really surprised if there are any sub £400 blu-ray players that are any better than a PS3.

Thats strange as every review I have read in mags has put the PS3 far ahead of any other BD player and it is the only one capable of being completely upgraded.

IMHO you have answered your own question if we have to convince you to get one. Yes it is a great console just like the 360 but if there are no games you have to have then why bother? Little Big Planet looks great so check that out and if you have to sell your granny then there is your answer.

Bitstream audio, quieter, has an IR remote instead of that annoying Bluetooth thing and most importantly noticeably better picture quality than the PS3.

And available for £179.

Exactly the same. I think I have used the PS3 (for gaming) about 5 times in the past 3 months. The xbox gets used about 5 times a week.

yes

Have to agree.

I have both, although I bought the PS3 really just to use as a media centre and Bluray player. It's the 360 that still gets used for what little gaming I manage to fit in these days.

If MGS4 and GT5P aren't enough to reason to buy PS3, I'm not convinced that there's any other exclusive content (at least for the mo) to make it worthwhile as a games machine if you already have a 360.

Jack.

The 360 upscales the game and it is not native 1080p. It is 720p on both so I can't really see what your point is.

I have both, since buying a PS3 the 360 never gets a look in. I love BD and the DVD upscale is excellent, as a media centre it's mint (although the menu system could be better for folk with 1000's of MP3's), I prefer the online store, like that the prices are in £ rather than an obscure points system, I like buying the games as a download only as it's much cheaper than buying a disc. If the 360 had built in BD, a DVD upscaler & was an awful lot quieter then the larger game portfolio would swing it back in its' direction but as it is I think until it gets a revamp it'll ultimately lose out again.

Other than maybe DOA4, I can't think of any 360 exclusive titles now which don't have an equal on the PS3.

Not that it's helping but Gamestation are currently selling the 80gb PS3 with 3 games and Transformers on BD for £324, which seems a reasonable deal to me?
