Ok, I made a mistake; I bought a second-hand phone of Ebay, a Qtek 9100 to be exact. The phone got delivered this morning and when I went to switch it on I realised it was asking for a pin to unlock. Well this was strange as I had not put my sim card in yet, and the phone number that it wanted to unlock was not one I recognised.
I put my sim in it and its still asking for a pin, so I performed a hard reset, this has not worked.
I contacted the buyer from whom I purchased the phone and was told his pin was 0000, tried that but you guessed it no luck.

So question is how do I now start to use the phone, is it possible to get it unlocked, and how come its asking for a sim pin if no sim is inserted? It seems like somehow it has been programmed to a certain phone number and wants the pin for that number not the pin for my sim card?

Gutted I knew I should not have tried to buy from ebay

Can anyone help?

its 4 zeros out of the box iirc. I also think the pin is a phone lock not a sim one. If someone has changed it notsure what you could do, sell it on ebay or paypal dispute I suppose

If your setup is similar to the MDA Vario, go into settings/system and there is an icon/choice like "Clear Storage". I have used this before. It wipes the machine and sets it back to the state it was first in when taken out of the box. Then 0000 might be OK. Worth a try!

OK

Press and hold the communication button (top left on the side) and the speak button (top right on the side). The device will buzz. Keep held down and press the stylus into the reset port. Then press the power button (still holding in the two side buttons) and release all 3.

What a nightmare, but it should then pop up and say 'press send to reset' or something similar, and you're back in business!

I hope/think

I cant get that far at the startup it boots up then asks for the pin so cant get into the settings and access any menu's.
I have tried 0000, 1111, 1234 and now im having to start to wait 35 seconds before i can enter a pin, time seems to extend the more times i get it wrong.
