I joined recently and I can nominate someone who 'introduced' me - they then get some free vouchers. I probably should have asked how much or what the vouchers are for but there you go! wink

So first member to reply I'll nominate.

It is with regret that Reebok are up there with Nike, Gap, Nestle & Ikea.

They either exploit the workers in sweat shops and/or conrner the market for framers crops to protect sales and then undercut their own bid when it's too late for the farmer to readvertise or find an alternative.....

So basically there scum

Sorry dude, can't help

Nothing personal, they just get my blood boiling ...........

Apart from slighty shoddy product and the fact it is impossible to enter a store without ending up having a row with your OH, what's the issue with Ikea? I thought they were quite ethical?

Will do, Tim. Guessing the name on your profile is your real one. Ill email them tomorrow and, having checked the website, you get 50 quids worth of vouchers...which I think you then have to spend at their shop, spa etc.

At first glance you would assume you are correct, however..........

Ikea like to secure their supply of forestory from plantations by promising to buy the whole amount of the plantation, thereby securing the deal and providing the forester with a full sale (no more advertising blah blah blah).

As Ikea are a major player in this industry, the don't provide the forester with a bill of sale and/or agreement for sale until the 11th hour. They then revise their offer significantly for maximum profit on their behalf, leaving the forester with an exponentially reduced profit margin, in some cases almost braking even.

Rant over.......

And don't get me started on Nestle............... grrrr

Well we can play the outraged Westerner, but what would those workers be doing otherwise? We have priced ourselves out of the unskilled labour market - we need £15K just to exist. They don't.

But it might just be us next

Imagine it's you and your lively hood that is for a specific market. you get a promise & things are rosie, roast beef for dinner this sunday, then the carpet gets pulled, and it's beans on toast............

Still, I don't think they've quite cornered the markets in gyms and forced the other large gym owning companies into a subsistence lifestyle yet.

Suppose that the staff there do have to work in a sweaty work place though wink
