Hi folks,

The family and I are off to Honfleur for a few days this weekend and I was looking for some suggestions for things to do in the locality that wouldn't be too boring for a couple of girls aged 6 & 8?

Also posted on the French forum Tuesday but no response yet frown

Cheers

Teach them about the Normandy Beach landings. The Bayeux tapestry is also very interesting.

Go to the circular cinema on the cliff-top at Arromanche. 20 minute film about WWII..................incredibly moving and your girls will probably be moved by it. Champlain restaurant in Honfleur is excellent. Good local food, very sensible prices and excellent service from just one waitress, (think she's the owner), plus they have a wooden horse from a fairground ride in there. One of our real favourites. Lots of others, of course.

Must admit I'm struggling for things to recommend for 6-8 year old, particularly at this time of year. Sorry.

Pop over to Deauville, it'll be a bit nippy on the sea front but there's a horse riding club right on the front if they're into horsies, and nearer to Pont L'eveque there's an activity area which has a go karting track (top hint: they have adults and kids karts so you can get some petrol head enjoyment at the same time) as well as canoes. Just outside Honfleur there are tropical gardens called 'Naturospace', which may be fun for them, has the usual fare of butterflies and pretty flowers hehe.

I think they might enjoy a visit to the Satie house / museum ..it's full of surreal stuff by the artist, and some exhibits that they could play about with if I remember ..
