What would you have?
Say your budget was 9k max & you wanted soemthing other than a Lotus but something rather special but didnt want to have to service it like every 4k but did want to use it everyday. 4 seats being essential & most importantly, FUN. What would be your choice?
Oh & something with atleast 30 MPG

I'd probably go back to my last car - clio 182, mileage maybe just under at 28mpg, if I remember rightly

Not at all, thats why I acknowledged the mpg would be just under what boobles was hoping for. Near enough though. biggrin

Ive just got rid of my 182 cup & as much as i liked it, it didnt feel special.
I was looking at RX8's but again thay are way below 30MPG & require ALOT of oil top ups.
Im loving my Elise but i will be looking at changing it come the summer time. (its worth more then)

What the Elise? Yes owned it for 5 weeks & want to keep it until the summer. I did own my previous Elise for almost 2 years as my daily drive & done almost 30k. Yes they are special & i think after doing 30k + i can qualify to have my say. wink

Caterham 21!

Loved it when it came out, but loved the Elise more!

DoH 4 Seata

I test drove and liked the Mini couper S but was too thirsty so Ill stick with the ZT 260 for now.

I'll look at the new MCS convertible when it comes out with the fuel saving gizmos....

Mini Cooper S?

Maybe not 'that' special but a hoot to drive and I do look forward to driving it each time. Some horror stories about MPG but we usually get about 33mpg. Also dropping in value now (seen a '53' plate with 38k for under £6000!!)

I came from a VX rather than an Elise and you will miss the Elise. The sense of occasion each time you go for a drive in the Elise (or VX) cannot be replaced.

another vote for a Cooper 'S' - was my last car. Good fun to drive and the supercharger whine is amusing...

You're not leaving yourself many options! 4 seats and "special" will usually include one or all of high maintenance, expensive or less than 30 mpg.

You're probably limiting yourself to a couple of hot/warm hatches or maybe a 330d. If you allow for lower mpg you could throw in options like the turbo 4wd's, M3, AMG C class, RX8....

Forget the MPG and go for an M3, or an Impreza.

I could probably cope with less mpg & have also considered an S3/S4 quattro.
I may end up keeping the Elise just as long as my previous one, but im always looking ahead & wondering what my next purchase will be. I agree that finding something with as much WOW facter as the Elise will be hard to find but surely there is something out there that will tick all the boxes for me?

VX220

Is that breaking the rules?

If so then it would be between a 944, a 968 or a stripped out Mk1 MX5

I'd go for an Evo (pref VI), I know the MPG isnt 30mpg but thats about the only 4 seater I can think of that would still entertain me! Cheaper to tax than my current Elise too!

BMW's, Audi's etc all leave me cold unless their the M or RS versions.
