Was out walking our dog around the fields near our house yesterday morning, when I saw a big black animal around 100m away. It definitely wasn't a deer or cow and walked with a feline gait. In profile it was around the same size as our Dane bh, making it a pretty damn big animal indeed. Certainly wasn't another dog, as our is the only really large dog in the village. Doing a bit of a search on the interweb, it looks like a panther is the closest match due to the size & markings characteristics.

Pretty spooky really, as it just stalked along a hedgerow & then disappeared through it. When I told my neighbour this morning, I only said "I think I saw a cat" & he stopped me short & described the animal I had seen to a tee. Apparently, he had seen something similar a couple of years ago.

Once I have taken some brave pills, I am going to go back to where I saw it & try to find some droppings / claw marks on the trees to figure out what it actually was.

one sunny afternoon some years ago 20 to be exact. i was out picking blackberrys and elderberries on local green land. lots of brambles and places to hide. i squashed some brambles to get nearer the nice berries and a long cat like growl came from the bramble. i did it again and the same. If it was a cat it was a big one. needless to say i retreated slowly and swiftly. i have never been back and will never forget it. scared me lots.............

The location in your profile says "South" ... any more clues? Not near Godalming by any chance?
