Speed 6 Upgrades
Options for existing owners from TVR Power
TVRs subsidiary in Coventry, TVR Power, are working on some upgrade kits for the Speed 6 range of engines as fitted to the Tamora, Cerbera, Tuscan and T350.
We expect them to announce several after market packages shortly. More details as soon as we have them.

I've got some cerbie V8 upgrades coming thourhg hopefully in november, if successful they can be fitted to the sp6 engines too, but watch those warranties on sp6 engines if modified... tvr power work should be fine given their factory backed status. For older cars I'm looking at 20lbs torque extra through the range for under 1k pounds fitted, ie half the red rose increase for a quarter the cost.. tempting?

yep yours is the first car sean .. so don't give the game away will you? I'm giving my time for free on yours so it will be less than later, can't discount the parts cos they're fixed but the labour is free from me.

, actually quite liked what she had to say, very clever but popular rumour at the mo is that there's no difference between any of the 4 litre SP6 engines and the power just comes from remapping the ECU .. time will tell. I know that when I had two SP6 engines in bits (one std and one RR) there's was no difference at all on anything I could measure (port sizes on the RR were actually 1mm smaller!! everything else the same to practical limits : valve sizes, cam lift and duration, compression etc) makes you wonder ... are all engines really 390ish bhp and then the ignition advance just wound back to reduce the power? Will get around to comparing the ignition advance curves on easimap one day. can of worms .. opened
Hi Joolz, looks like you may start and interesting debate. I have to say from my (business) perspective, that everything you say makes perfect sense. A small volume manufacturer (as TVR are) would be adding extra layers of complication to manage on their assembly lines by making engines that have different mechanical specifications - and stocking numerous permutations of components. We all know the finger followers debacle - so they must have little or no control over tracing batch parts. So how would they manage different types??? Easiest way to go is to up/down tune engines once assembled to give them the 350-400 bhp product spectrum they desire for marketing purposes.
And if I remember Joolz, once you said you dyno'd a standard SP6 unit and got 373 bhp rather than the 'expected' 360 bhp? I would not be surprised then if you are spot on with your hypothesis!

Quick question Joolz. Why has nobody developed a cheap aftermarket remappable ecu (or an addon)?
This is obviously reasonably easy as you can get one for most Jap cars (HKS FCON Pro V or equivalent) and they tend to cost for about £4-500. I know you can buy an emerald ECU but isn't this a lot more expensive?
If what you say about the sp6 is true then this sounds like a cheap way to get a power hike on a 350bhp T350 for example.
