Official alternative punk classical music thread 1970--'79
Discussion
Inspired by the other recent music threads, I offer for your Aural delectation the following: The Portsmouth Sinfonia
You could argue that this lot were very much 'alternative' and even possibly 'Punk' even though they they started out a bit earlier than 1976. (Formed 1970 and made it big in 1974). Brian Eno was among the band members and produced their first two albums. The pianist/composer Michael Nyman also once joined the group half way through a live performance.
If you can cope with their live rendition of 'The Hallelujah Chorus', performed live at the Albert Hall, it's Here
