After having been targeted by a scammer on ebay i relisted my watch, it sold again today, they have just sent me the money however i received this first from Paypal:

Dear Mc Lovin,

Thank you for using PayPal for your online auctions. We at PayPal are ensuring that all our customers and auction site are fraud free.

In our efforts to secure our merchants, We are now receiving payments through our secure server. This is to ensure that the seller and buyer do their responsibility in every transaction we handle.

We have now received and confirmed payment from the buyer of eBay Item. This payment is currently pending to be credited into your account due to the security measures we have taken. You are now required to ship out the item and send us the shipment reference number for verification of shipment.

As soon as we have verified the shipment which normally takes about 5 minutes, your account will be credited with the full payment. This security methods have been taken due to fraudulent sellers on eBay , click the links below to view an example of eBay fake sellers:

We await the shipment reference number for verification so we can credit your account immediately. Note that you are advised not to send out the shipment reference number to the buyer until we have verified the shipment and credited your account.

Thank you for using PayPal!

The PayPal Team

Then this from the buyer:

Dear Mate.

Calvary greetings. I want to know if the item is in its top condition as i don't want to buy him a faulty item since it is a new year. I would be grateful if you could help in sending the item down to west Africa (Nigeria) on my behalf as i am due to leave for Asia soon and i wont be able to receive the item here in the State.

Moreover,I have found out the postage cost to my friends address from UK and i'll duly include it with payment.I have notified Paypal regarding the shipment address and i was told i do not have problems with that so i would be happy if you would ensure safe delivery as this my first time of sending item to Africa but it is necessary for me to do this as you know that i have missed the item i was meant to do this.please find below the postage address:

I am really sorry for any form of inconvenience i might have caused you but i will be glad if you could get this done..You can check my feedback as i am a responsible buyer and i do not want to deal with time wasters. I will leave a positive feedback as soon as we end this transaction on a good note

Hope to read from you soonest.

Is this an attempt at another scam, or what? its gone through paypal, im confused!!

The first e-mail is a fake "escrow" e-mail. It is NOT from Paypal. There is no money waiting.

You're joking right?

You know this is a scam?

It's got scam written all over it.

Like you're gonna ship anything without the cash first?

Do you REALLY need to ask?

ETA - if that email had a link to 'PayPal' - what ever you do, don't go there. The link is probably to a phishing site set up to look genuine.

Cavalry greetings, What is wrong with this method of the sending of fundings? I await your fastest reply with flights of angels winging to me your wishes.

FFS it's a bigger scam than Scammer Scammerson standing outside the british legion with a poppy tied to his cock and a sign saying 'pull for donations'.

There's this in the PH Classifieds section, too - http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/warnings.asp
Someone's trying to scam you. Set fire to them somehow.

Why cant the scammer give me those options before trying it on:

Dear mate

would you like me to do a standard scam, armed robery or i could do a bespoke package for yourself, including credit card fraud.

Sell it on here - or try Timezone (although as a new poster you'll probably have problems)? Ebay again and third time lucky?

Posh watches - scam magnets.

The real Paypal are quite quick to reply to scams - forward the mail to spoof@paypal.com I think. But no way will they tell you to ship the goods before payment.
