Okay, so the MINI's in at BMW having £413s worth of radiator, thermostat and labour done for tomorrow.

Dropped the car off on Saturday - it's not drivable so thought may as well drop it off now.

Phone call at 10.30 this morning:

"Hello Miss Senior"
"Hello"
"Hi, just calling to say that we might be able to get your car in for the work doing today however, we will have to wait until tomorrow morning until we get the radiator"
"okayyyy..." (I knew this already)
"And I'm afraid there's been an accident with your car..."
"What do you mean?"
"One of our BMW customers has opened his car door and the wind has taken it out of his hand and it has hit the side of your MINI and has badly damaged the door, there is a dent and a scratch and it will need some body work doing to it"
"........"

So went through to see what it was like, I think the dent is about..urm I dunno...2 FOOT LONG!!!

:'(

The guy owned up though so that was decent of him, and left his insurance details etc but will this lower the value of my car?

Not if the repair is done properly as nobody would know any different. TBH they'll probably replace the door so the bodywork will certainly be straight. Just check that the paint matches (not normally a problem IMO).

Don't settle for anything but perfection.

Who says you have to even mention it when selling it on? It won't make a difference.

Don't go and kick up a stink at the people at the dealership, its not there fault. This isn't an excuse to have a go at anyone, st happens. If you drive a car you need to accept this.

True, I mean it was obviously an accident, your car will have to be away for a couple of days to be fixed which maybe an inconvenience, but your car will be fixed at no cost to you. You are not obliged to tell the next owner about minor panel damage, thus your car will keep its value.

my bosses cayenne has been in the local porsche dealer for 4 weeks, as it needed a full respray due to the employees driving and subsequently crashing it frown

Car gets accidentally damaged at dealer.

THE END

It's an (easily written) MINI adventure.
