Flown in a plane that May have crashed in the future!!
Discussion
Following on from the earlier thread about experiences and tragedy concerning air/rail/shipping disasters.
This made me think back a few years when I travelled to cyprus one year on a return Helios airways trip ,who at that time were quite a new charter airline with a fleet of just 3 new boeing 737's
So it was to my amazement that the following year on 14th aug 2005,one of these 737's flight 522 crashed into a greek hillside killing all 121 persons on board.
Although obviously I have no direct involvement,it's still strange to think that on my outward and return journeys I have a 1 in 3 chance of actually flying in a plane that crashed the following year.
just made me think really as aviation is always stated as being safest way to travel.

I've worked on quite a few aircraft over the years that have crashed, some with fatalities.
It's not a nice feeling spending months repairing an aircraft for some nasty bugger to go and shoot it down!

I just saw that 106 of the 1832 727's that have been built have been written off! Over one in 20!
Don't fly on those
Well they have been flying for over 45 years and most of the ones still in the air are in Africa, only makes sense.Don't fly on those

If memory serves it's the DC-9 that had the worst record for unintended landings.
