147 2.0 Selespeed

I have never owned an Alfa and am considering buying a selespeed - does anyone know if there are any problems with this?

If you want a selespeed get a 2004/2005 onwards version as most of the selespeed gearbox problems were sorted at that point as I understand it. The 147 as a whole is a great car but the selespeed system has a history of issues. I had one and the actuator or somesuch went the repair bill was meant to be 900 iirc but my local alfa did it for 500. Still not cheap so bear it in mind.

Engine needs to be properly maintained check oil regularly service it on time and if possible slightly ahead of schedule just in case of any impending issues.
