Guys a bought an 06 S2 Exige from an Audi garage on Saturday and as such it comes with only the minimum warrenty.

I'm really not a Lotus expert at all (spent the last 10 years in 911s) and wondered what the warrenty reccomendation is with these cars.
Thanks

James

Tell me to bugger off if im being rude but can i ask what model/pack you bought and how much you paid for it??
The reason i ask is that in one of my more bored moments recently i went to an Audi garage to look at a new A5 and they offered me £17k for my 06 NA Exige with Sport Pack and Air Con against it.
This figure seemed to be the going rate around other dealerships as well. I wanted £20k so never bought the car which is just as well as i would probably be looking to buy another Lotus again by now.

Lotus only warranty them for two years from new. Opinion has it that an AA warranty is fine after that.

would you bother with a warranty at all? ok I can understand it with the K series and HGF. but if the car has a toyota engine, what else is there in the car which is likely to go wrong costing more than the warranty?

I never bother with extended warranties on any other cars so why on the Lotus?

Car is NA.

I've never bothered with a warrenty to be honest, just wanted to know what the view was. I'll probably not bother.

Thanks

18k for a 06 exige is pretty good going in terms of price. You'd struggle to buy one privately for that!

I would not bother with an extra warranty on an 06. You'll probably have another good few years trouble free motoring from that. Make sure its been serviced recently etc though...

James, make sure all the typical faults are sorted, and you should be fine. In my experience, third party warrAnties aren't worth the paper their written on.

Enjoy your car.

The HVAC is CR*P ! But rattles apart, I dont know that there are any "usual" faults . Car can have been damaged through over revving on the downshift but thats abuse rather than a fault.

i got rid of my 06 111R back in April, when it was just over 18 months old...if it hadn't been under warranty while I owned i, i would have been significantly out of pocket. heater/indicator/coolant/indicator again. No way would i have another one without it being covered.
