If the car is unmodified, then try MoreThan - but preferably through www.moneysupermarket.com. Reason being, when I run a quote on the MoreThan site, it was 10% more expensive than moneysuper....so no doubt moneysuper have got some more introductory benefits worked out.

If a quote with moneysupe does not show MoreThan, then you will have to run the quote on their site.

Here's why - I am 41, full NCD and garage.....£180 fully comp on a S1. I think this was £300-£800 cheaper than the rest.

  • They will not consider modified cars (or did not - always worth a call) and told me they would cancel my policy if I got fined for speeding, so they really only want saints driving untouched cars.....but hey, look at the prices!

if you intend on doing any trackdays then id try Richard Eggers or CCI (Competition Car Insurance) both are usually as cheap as any of the mainstream insurers, but will cover mods and trackdays ...theres a big list of Lotus friendly insurers here - I was with Eggers and mine was £700 ish for a 330bhp modded car with track cover and business use smile

CCI for me, modded Sport 160, 5k miles garaged, they took into account my company car no claims and it was £450 for the year, included 4 x track days.

I used A-Plan, same price as Chris Knott - but a-Plan was protected no claims as standard, was £100 cheaper than my renewal from Elephant, which was £200 cheaper than the previous years cover. I'd deffo ring round from the SELOC wiki though.

Could try Hagarty insurance, they insure my TVR Chimaera as a second car for £380 and im only 24, looking into getting an Elise and they proved to be very cheap for me also.

I used Hagerty. My Elise 111R is a 2nd car, garaged, 5k miles per year. They proved very good value indeed. They also do a track day policy which works out at 10% of your premium per track day and you just have to give them 48 hours notice.

Very nice and helpful on the phone too.

Dont use Autotorque, they have very little regard for helping their customer service team sort out issues. By this i mean the customer service staff are good but try getting money out of them and the Finance Manager disappears. I waited 6 months for a cheque last year.

CCI biggrin John Priestman

As per all the others re: cover (track days/mods etc), 40 yr old, garaged, SDP, full no claims + wife £250. No-one else could get within a 100 notes of that.

Cheers
