I'm roughly half way through a contract period on an Orange phone. I find myself suddenly no longer needing it due to change of circumstances. Forgetting the fact that I have pathetic coverage where I live (I have to go out the garden to get a signal) what are my options for ending the contract? It currently costs me £35 a month and usage change means I now no longer need it. Obviously the change wasnt forseen.

Drop it down to the lowest tariff available, if you want to take your number t another network you'll have to pay off the remainder of the tariff

Had a weird one a few years back when Cellnet wouldnt change a tariff when they found I was leaving, insisted it couldnt be done and sent bills for about a couple of hundred quid. I think we settled at about £70

You have to wait until the last four months to cancel. That's what i've got to do anyway. Well, that or you have to pay.

I have a contract at the minute

Was £35 p/m
Lowered it to £15 p/m

If you wish to end said contract they will pro rata the £35 and not the £15

Best to lower it and let it run.

Don't forget about it though

make sure you drop your tariff BEFORE you tell them you are leaving.

you may only be allowed to drop one tariff per month though.

I know with orange they only let you go down like 5 quid a month.
As far as I know you can't get out of the contracts althoguh I though they was some court case gonig on at the moment about the legalities of locking people into 12 month contracts
