Hey Ex-Seasider byebye, unlucky mate. Saw you get in there just at the end. The winner of the last auction was the winner of the first and now has a whole set!! Good man...or woman.

Last lot, £25. eek

So chaps - anyone quibbling about the £8 price tag - just remember your 'ole mate Wayne, who sold you and appreciating asset. Better than shares right now!! Almost too good to use!

Hope that was a bit of fun for you all.

What's the charity Wayne?

Lucks out.

One set for me, and one set for my dad as we are building the Canam between us.

Hope I haven't upset to many people on here?

Hi Mike,

Congrats!!! It will make your tea breaks much more pleasurable!!!

My g/f, 'Limelambo' is in charge of Internet ebay stuff and she'll sort all that out with you..then I'll get your details off to Mr Wayne (the Mugmaster) and he'll no doubt wrap'em up nice and propper like.

She's on the blower at the mo, but I'll get her to work when she's off.

I'm quite jealous.....I haven't got one yet frown

Cheers

Lucky.

Whats up Stig...

I am somewhat upset at the way you have just cancelled a thread without discussion...
redcard

I thought this forum was for the amusement and benefit of Ultima fans, owners and builders alike?

OK if the SMILE-LITERAL campaign for ultima mugs to go for a charitable donation - however small was not popular then it should die a death naturally, but to just cancel like that is in my opinion over-stepping the mark!

...and how can you doubt Pete? Blimey...I am LOST FOR WORDS!

I suppose next time someone comes up with an idea, no matter how tenuous to raise money on behalf of Ultima fans, your going to stop that also?

Yes I am fuming... furious

...and I won't be proposing any other ideas..... for a long time to come...

Keith - you knew that the thread content was tenuous which is why you asked if it was OK in your opening post? Having seen where it originated from, I decided it would have been better off living in the mugs thread (as indeed it still does).

I thought for quite a while about leaving it open and you're right, it wasn't exactly setting the forum alight with responses. But PH isn't (and never has been) a chat room and I couldn't see any value in that thread as far as Ultima's go? Whilst this forum is indeed here to benefit/inform/educate people as far as Ultimas are concerned, it's not for community chat (though a lot of banter goes on in the threads and I generally leave it alone).

But imagine if you will, someone who comes here looking for information. Do they really want to wade through pages and pages of banter to get at it? No - well, I certainly wouldn't anyway. It's up to the community to keep up the quality of the material posted and useless 'chaff' will get trimmed I'm afraid.

Now - regarding the charity question, it was a legitimate question and wasn't asked out of 'doubt' but for clarification. In hindsight I probably should've asked offline - doh! But pobody's nerfect!! smile

However, I hate to quote rules, but one of PH's rules of posting is as follows:

"7. Post links to websites or adverts for your own commercial gain. Please use our classifieds section for cars, parts etc. or contact the sales team for banner advertising. "

I don't make these rules but I am asked to keep an eye to make sure that people adhere to them.

I applaud the gesture if the auction is for charity - good job, but there is no mention of it on the eBay listing - hence my question. I'm not questioning Pete's integrity on this (nor Wayne's), but it was a legitimate question nonetheless.

I'm sorry that you feel that I've been unfair, but equally I wouldn't be moderating if I had to ask the forum for their input on every decision. If you'd like to discuss it further then by all means mail me offline to do so. This forum has BY FAR the most liberal moderating on PH and I don't expect to have to justify things on the rare occasion that I have to do something.

The smileys competition lives on in the mugs thread and I'm glad the mugs have proved popular to the benefit of Ulti-mates (geddit!) and a charity.

Hope this helps clarify things Keith it wasn't my intention to up your blood pressure.
Chris

Yes it is. Please ask Wayne which one though. (Personally I think it should be down to the chap Mike who won 2 sets) But as you can see from post history, I'd already asked Wayne to name one.

Thanks Pete - sorry to have to ask, but as I wasn't following the mugs thread, I didn't know the origin of the auctions until I'd backtracked from here.

No probs. I just realised that the tyre thread is also not entirely within the rules. I'll use classifieds in future. Soz.

Calling Mike, you have been nominated by Wayne to name the charity of your choice.

You can let Lou know when you pay her.

Cheers

....I just realised it too wink

Nothing like consistent moderating is there hehe

Generally speaking, if it's 'for the good of the community' I leave it, if it's 'for the good of an individual' I question it. There was a bit of both in the tyres one so I err'd on the side of caution and let it be.
