I have noticed that when I click on a web page link in either Google or one that is sent via email it does not show up in the history list or any subsequent pages that I might visit on that site.

Does this mean that if I am looking at that site it will also not show up in the central company server?

Please explain - bearing in mind I am a computer numpty.

OK, serious answer time.

I dunno why these pages are not showing up in your history - I've just tried an experiment and they certainly do for me.

As regards your company server, what they can or can't see is entirely up to the admin guy(s), what software is being used and how its set up. As a guide I would expect every page visited to be at least logged. I wouldn't imagine many folk have the time to examine the logs though, unless they're given cause to...

One company I used to work for published the top 10 visited every month. Used to be quite scary!

What you do at your local PC as regards clearing temporary files etc has no bearing whatsoever on what the company's server is up to. This, of course, assumes that you connect to the internet via a central point on the network and not via a modem connected directly to your PC.

You'll find that Windows (or IE) keeps all sorts of information in all sorts of places. The History view (Ctrl-H in IE) shows all the sites you've been to, but you can delete this.

At home, there's not much to worry about... unless your name's Garry Glitter and you take your PC in to PC World to be fixed!

Hmmm, don't mention pc world
Every time i go in there it takes half an hour to be seen. Took my pc in there the other day to get a troublesome webcam installed and decided to get a health check done at the same time as they dont charge for instalations with a HC.
3 days past the pickup date and they couldn't install it and said that they health check hadnt told them why??????, Needless to say i got a full refund!!!
Nothing against their employees just really fustrating.
