I can not believe this is allowed to happen.
Grandaughter starts Secondary school and endures her first year being bullied by your stereotypical bully.
Complain to the school and SFA happens so we enrol her into another school. Luckily she loves the new school,
loads of mates and doing really well.
Now it turns out the original bully at the previous school is being bullied herself and guess what?
She has left the school and due to start at grandaughters school... FFS

Sometimes bullys only bully because they are being bullied themselves and need to feel better about themselves by passing it on - if said bully isn't being bullied anymore then it may stop - if not, hope the new school has the ability to sort it....I wouldn't be too worried about it for now!
Females are the most spiteful by far, i shudder to think these days, with text abuse etc. I was bullied for a while in secondary school cos i used to pick my nose occasionally, it was just jealousy looking back now, used to be in the footy team, rounders team, held the school record for throwing a cricket ball farthest.
Got so bad my parents wanted to take me out of the school and was a terrible experience. One day i got beaten up (hit a coupla times) by 3 of these lads and went home in tears, wouldn't get out of bed, my elder brother heard about it and rather than go after them, he dragged me out of bed and beat the crap out of me in the garden, then hugged me and said "that's the worst you'll get so tomorrow find the ring leader and do the same to him"
And i did went straight up to the so called hero when he was on his own and kicked the s
t out of him - got expelled for it but hey ho LOL! life lesson learned

I reckon work on building that group of friends that your daughter has e.g. throw some parties at home, sleepovers, day trips etc.. Once they are really tight together it's harder for one of them to be bullied including your daughter.Grandaughter starts Secondary school and endures her first year being bullied by your stereotypical bully.

My little girl's a redhead and we're preparing already for the trouble she'll get at primary/high and these are the steps we'll be taking.
Good luck
When I was young, many moons ago, I too was bullied at school.
Anyway, all ended when I decided "enough was enough" and walked up to him one breaktime in the dinnerhall and socked him square in the mouth. I got a standing ovation from the dinnerhall.
Thing is, bullies are small people. They think they're so cool and people like them, but in reality most people hate them and only tolerate them out of fear. Mainly.

Out of interest mate, you tried naming and shaming said school on various current affairs forums? Might provoke some +ve response? Grandaughter starts Secondary school and endures her first year being bullied by your stereotypical bully.

I absolutely detest my old secondary school. I hating the place and its sounds more of a s
t hole than ever these days. Going to uni was magic and I loved every second of it.I had some serious problems with bullies at that school, especially so as I was "different" for coming in the 2nd year (year 8), and as such I stood out like a sore thumb as my pillock form tutor declared to all that I'd just arrived from "a private school in Spain", and asked everyone to help me settle in. He might have well have just said, "beat the s
t out of him".I endured it for a couple of years until my old man (who grew up in Glasgow), told me to be a man give back ten fold what I received.....which worked, even on the chaps twice my size.....until I ended up lashing out for anything and then I got suspended from school for a week.
Ah, well. Such is life. You live and learn.....

tty boss. Started new job only to fnd said ex boss had just joined in my departmenthopefully now your grandaughter has the upper hand and can bully her old bully, its the only way they learn
Cheers for the feedback fella's. The grandaughter has a strong group of friends around her who all know why she had to change schools, so fingers crossed she has the upper hand. The previous constant threats in class, playground, canteen and more disturbingly on line via chat rooms, can at least now be witnessed by her friends and hopefully through the right channels acted upon.
Gone are the days when you could simply stand and fight your ground, I was the fat kid who fought my way through all my schooling, did me the world of good. Kids nowadays, and their pikey litigious <sp> mums, dad is long gone, would not hesitate to call the police.
Naming and shaming the school? Little point really, by the time any impact, if any, happened the little cow would already be in the school. Other half and her daughter are due to visit the Headmaster on Monday, fingers crossed.
There is a supposed magical stream in Runcorn, anybody know the patron saint of medicinal streams? ;-)

Be careful with the retaliation because in our experience the 'professional' bullies seem to be able to get away with it by being sneaky & sly. My eldest son got picked on at school because he was a 'newcomer' by a group of lads (yokels) but he wanted to make friends so didn't do much about it initially, the school were pretty hopeless at sorting it out.
I told him that if it happened again to hit them, hit them hard and keep hitting them until they were completely overwhelmed, so he did - out of school he had a go at 2 of them (in self defence, to be fair), gave both big shiny black eyes but one of the little feckers got his Mother to go to the Police station to report it.
We had a Police officer come round to warn him, although the Cop was clearly sympathetic and commented on the lad that had reported it being 'known' to them but because my son had committed the 'offence' he was told to write a letter of apology to said scrote (but he did get a picture of the injuries, courtesy of Mr Plod).
It seems that if you 'Honestly' stand up for yourself you get in trouble whilst the sly feckers generally get away with it but on the plus side the scrotes learned their lesson as they've not bothered him again.
