drinking alcohol...with a sore throat
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm attending a birthday bash this evening and know that a certain amount of alcohol will be consumed. However, I'm suffering a little at the moment with a sore throat. Common sense would dictate that I abstain from drinking alcohol tonight; however, I have no common sense, and therefore know that I will be downing a drink or seven.
So, as means to damage limitation, what would be the most 'sympathetic' drink to be having this evening? Lager? G&T? Vodka and mixer? Anything else?
Cheers,
EYW

A couple of shots of sambucca to numb, then you should be OK to follow that up with whatever you fancy. Never been good at sympathetic.
ETA Tea with honey this afternoon is good for sore throats so may be worthwhile getting a couple of those down you. Used to have this when I sang.

Gargle with the contents of a bottle of whisky. If your sore throat persists, do more cocaine.
That's a point. Doesn't coke numb the area it touches? Not that I'm suggesting the OPer takes coke!!! Was just speaking to an anaesthetist about various substances and the effect on the body (as an aside, she didn't know rohypnol and ketamine were used as date rape drugs!).Edited by shadowninja on Saturday 18th October 14:03

Bet she did once you'd finished with her. Edited by shadowninja on Saturday 18th October 14:03

Apparently if your blood alcohol level gets high enough it makes your body so inhospitable to life that it really will kill bugs off.
Might kill you too, mind.
nice to have you back again Might kill you too, mind.

Struggling a little, but definitely here for now. Got one planned hospital admission and possibly two semi-planned ("that's really going to need some attention soon" type thing) coming up but hopefully after that I'll have a fully working complement of extra orifices.
