Fernhurst Motor Company........
Discussion
Just had the Tuscan into Fernhurst Motor Co for a couple of checks (Tappets, Compression Test, Fuel Hose replacement) and have to say how impressed I was.
Having come from a BMW E39 M5 and being used to the service standards that BMW "sometimes" provide, I was used to pretty good customer service. I can only say that Fernhurst Motor Company beat "Snows BMW" hands down.
On booking my car in about a week ago, I had to swap my booking from Thursday to Friday, do to a commitment I'd forgot about. Appreciating that this might be a nuisance to Fernhurst I felt abit guilty having to call them and ask them If I could swap days.........Their answer : No Problem at all, and would you like a courtesy car for the day ???? The cost to me for the use of a courtesy car for the day : Nothing at all.
I arrived earlier than I expected, had a good run from Portsmouth to Fernhurst, and expected to have to wait an hour until 9 o'clock........Wrong, their mechanics were there at 8am. Thought I might have to wait for the courtesy car........No, They handed me the keys within minutes, then checked to confirm what I had booked the car in for, and asked if there was anything else I would like them to check. I told them that I had only recently purchased the car and would they check all of the fuel hoses, and a check over any other areas they knew to be prone to wear. No Problem at all.
Five hours later I received a call at home, informing me that all the work had been done, and the car was ready for collection. On arrival I was presented with a very reasonable bill (Compared to BMW's prices for working on an M5), and also noticed that the Tuscan had been washed and shami-leathered.
Absolutely unbeatable customer service. BMW need to take some lessons from here.
Many Thanks Guys, see you in the spring for the next service.
Car is fine an healthy with no adjustments needed to the tappets, Compression Test all showing around the 240 - 260 psi, Fuel hose from the tank to the fuel pump was changed (Which required the tank to be drained prior to the change) as I'd noticed it wasn't quite in the condition I was happy with. All other fuel hoses were checked, but no more changes were needed. The guy's gave the car their thumbs up and away I went.
And I didn't even buy the car from them. Almost felt guilty........LOL.

I bought my Chimaera from them and the whole experience was also excellent.
I live in the US but the deal was done as easily as if I lived down the road.
The car was exactly as advertised, in excellent condition for the year and has been problem-free so far.
I would not hesitate in recommeding them to anyone considering a used, good-quality TVR.

We bought our Chim from them in 2006 and they do all our servicing and MOTs for us. We are really chuffed with their work and it always comes back to us cleaner than it went in. Their commitment to their customers is 100% which in this day and age is very rare.
to Fernies
+1I have been dealing with them for years on and off and have recently bought my fourth TVR from them and I can honestly say they are one of the main reasons I always come back to TVR ownership.
Every other Car dealer independent or not just does not compare to the courtesy, professionalism and all round general niceness to do business that they provide.
Fernhurst as a business deserves to thrive and continue to grow and I believe they will for years to come. They also have zero staff turnover which speaks volumes about the company...

Only good things to say about Fernies from me. They dont judge a book by its cover and from my experience treat you the same whether you look a million dollars and have a bank balance to match or,
like (most of us), are slightly scruffy and look as if we couldn't even afford the insurance.
For me, this is the reason they continue to stick around during troubled times.
Drew is honest and frank about your aspirations and tells the whole story conerning TVR's - the inevitable good and the important 'challenging' aspects of ownership. Top bloke who even allows you to catch all the fish when sharing a trout beat - selfless or what!
When I return to the fold in 2 years time, they will be top of my list to start the selection process.

More good experiences here.
I gave up looking for a Chim once i had spent time with Drew and Simon. Their knowledge, enthusiasm and open approach convinced me that i would be buying my first (and current)Chim from them once they had the right car (at the right price
) for me. I have nothing but praise for the way they managed the whole experience, and have recently introduced another potential Chim buyer to them. Being my first TVRm i wanted the comfort of the warranty they provided, which happily turned out to be surplus to requirements

Hi there
Great to read positive comments about Fernhurst!! I can't praise them enough, we bought our TVR from them about six months back, we travelled from North Devon looking at various other dealers en route. Fernhurst's service was second to none, my wife and I had our two and a half year old daughter with us, we were all made to feel welcome and having the little one was absoluetly no problem at all, so much so we spent all day (Lunch at the local pub of course!!)test driving and looking at the various examples they had in stock before choosing what has turned out to be a superb example of a Chimaera 450.
Simon and Drew, superb fella's and Drew's no bull approach was refreshing, I really wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Well worth the journey, and it was great day out, one we still talk about and will for a while to come.

I bought my Sagaris from them in July this year. I normally hate dealing with salesmen and car showrooms but these guys mae me feel very comfortable, no pushy sales and really helped in every way possible. Its a shame I live nowhere near these guys as I would have loved to continue using them when needed.
+1 for Fernhurst
+1 for Fernhurst
Careful with all this praise, the showroom doors aren't that wide, Drew and Simon's heads are surely growing and they have to get out through them to go home at night !! I'm sure they're following this thread !!
We know you're out there
On a more serious note, as I said before, couldn't agree more with the comments on the level of service these guys give.
Simon.
eta they even matched the hanging baskets to my car on the day I was collecting it

any excuse to post a picture of the Griff !!

One of their main mechanics left to work for racing green. They did all but stop selling tvrs a few years ago but I assume that didn't work out.Simon left a few years ago but went running back.If only the owner could leave.
wow, the chip on your shoulder is large enough to feed the entire pistonheads community! I have to say how fantastic they are!
When i was looking for my chim they offered to adjust one of thier cars pedal box so it would fit my wife who is only 5ft3, so she could have a test drive!
I feel bad that although i didnt get them to do it and bought a private chim i would have loved to have bought it from them after the advice i got from them.
They even told me a tuscan was not for me as i was asking about running costs and anyone who was worried about potential big bills perhaps should look at a grif or chim!
Just good honest advice and their hourly rate is reasonable. Just wish i lived closer to give them my business.
